Jesús Picó was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1964. He received the M.S.Eng. degree in engineering science and the Ph.D. degree in control engineering, both from the Technical University of Valencia, Spain, in 1989 and 1996, respectively.
Currently he is Full Professor at the Department of Systems Engineering and Control of the Technical University of Valencia.

His main research interests are in nonlinear systems, sliding mode observers and  control, modeling and control of biologic and biotechnological processes, and systems and synthetic biology.

Hiking, classical music, and science related issues are among his other interests.
